Official Answer Keys & Score Calculation Protocol

Provisional vs Final Answer Key Lifecycle
  • Provisional Answer Key: Released within 3 to 5 days following exam conclusion along with candidate recorded OMR responses and question paper PDF.
  • Challenge Window: A 48-to-72 hour objection window allows candidates to challenge disputed questions by paying a non-refundable processing fee of ₹200 per challenged question.
  • Expert Panel Review: Subject matter professors scrutinize challenges. If errors are upheld, the question is either dropped (full marks given) or answer option updated.
  • Final Answer Key: Released without further right of challenge; used to compute official NTA / JAB percentiles and raw scores.
Standard Raw Score Calculation Formula
Raw Score = (Correct Answers × +4) - (Incorrect Answers × 1)
  • Correct Attempt: Awarded +4 Marks (+3 in certain JEE Advanced sections).
  • Incorrect Attempt: Penalty of -1 Mark for MCQs and numerical questions with negative marking.
  • Unattempted Questions: 0 Marks (No negative marking penalty).
  • Dropped Questions: If a question is dropped by the conducting committee, full +4 marks are awarded to all eligible candidates who appeared in that session.

4 Golden Rules for Solving PYQs

1. Replicate Real Test Conditions: Sit in an isolated room for 3 Hours 20 Minutes (200 Minutes) without phone or formula cheat sheets.
2. Maintain an Error Notebook: Note down every conceptual blunder, miscalculation, or formula lapse immediately after finishing.
3. Analyze Question Traps: Examine how incorrect options are framed to catch common algebraic or unit conversion mistakes.
4. Revise Weak Sub-Topics: Do not just read the solution; reread the entire chapter section where the mistake originated.
