Shift Normalization Formula Explained

To ensure total equity across multiple examination shifts with varied difficulty levels, conducting authorities employ NTA's percentile normalization formula:

Percentile (P) = (100 × m) / N

Where m is the total number of candidates who scored equal to or less than you in your shift, and N is the total count of candidates who appeared in that session. Percentile scores are calculated up to 7 decimal places to prevent ties.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) – Rank Predictor

How is percentile calculated from raw marks in CLAT UG?
Percentile Score = (100 × Number of candidates who scored equal to or less than you in your shift) / (Total candidates who appeared in that shift).
How are ties broken when two candidates obtain identical marks in CLAT UG?
Ties are resolved based on predefined rules: higher marks in core subjects (e.g., Mathematics in JEE, Biology in NEET), fewer negative responses, and age (older candidate given preference if specified).
